Concrete Deliveries For Perfect Outdoor Spaces

Volumetric concrete is an efficient and cost-effective option for pathways and patios that also reduces waste by ensuring you only receive the exact amount you need. Specially mixed to be frost resistant and withstand freeze-thaw weathering, and reinforced to support external paving, this concrete is also suitable for shed & house extension bases.

We supply a variety of aggregates to suit any concrete driveway appearance or requirement you may have.

A sustainable sub-base material made from crushed concrete and construction waste, processed to meet strict grading specifications. Ideal for roads, pavements, driveways and general construction projects requiring robust foundations with excellent load-bearing properties.

Clean, processed sand that has been thoroughly washed to remove impurities, clay and silt particles. Particularly suitable for concrete production, mortar mixes, filtration systems and children’s play areas where high levels of cleanliness are essential.

Environmentally friendly aggregate produced from crushed concrete and masonry, with particles up to 20mm in size. Perfect for drainage applications, pipe bedding, sub-base layers and non-structural concrete, offering a cost-effective alternative to primary aggregates.

Coarse recycled aggregate with particles up to 40mm, created from processed construction and demolition waste. Excellent for use in larger drainage projects, substantial fill applications and areas requiring improved stability without the environmental impact of virgin materials.

Concrete for Paths & Patios FAQs

For a standard concrete path, use a C20/25 mix with a ratio of 1:2:3 (cement:sand) which is plenty of strength for foot traffic. Fibres or mesh reinforcement will give it extra strength and crack prevention, especially in areas prone to ground movement or frost. For a path that is more durable in wet climates, you may want to increase to a C25/30 mix with an air-entraining additive to improve freeze-thaw resistance.

It’s not a good idea to pour concrete straight onto bare earth for a path, as this will probably lead to cracking, uneven settling, and the path deteriorating prematurely. A proper sub-base with at least 75-100mm of compacted MOT Type 1, or similar material, should be installed first to provide adequate drainage and support. Installing a damp-proof membrane between the sub-base and concrete will also stop moisture rising through the path, which is particularly important with the damp climate we have in the UK.

To work out how much concrete you need for a path, multiply the length by width by depth (in metres) to find the volume in cubic metres. For a standard 10 metre by 1 metre garden path, with a recommended depth of 100mm (0.1m), you would need 1 cubic metre of concrete. Add an extra 10% to cover for variations in ground level and potential wastage. Our concrete calculator page will help you work out exactly the volume you need.

A standard concrete patio in the UK usually costs £60-£90 per square metre, depending on site access, ground preparation needs, and finishing options. For an average-sized patio of 20 square metres, expect to pay £1,200-£1,800 for a basic finish, including excavation and sub-base preparation. Extra features will increase the overall cost but can greatly improve aesthetics.

A C20/25 strength concrete with a 1:2:3 ratio (cement:sand) is ideal for garden paths, and more than strong enough for pedestrian traffic, while also staying cost-effective. In areas with harsh weather, upgrading to a C25/30 mix with air entrainment will give your path better resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, and ensure it’s serviceable for many years.
A concrete patio should be at least 100mm (4 inches) thick for residential use, which will give it enough strength for garden furniture and foot traffic. This should be laid on a well-compacted sub-base of MOT Type 1 or similar material that’s at least 100mm deep. For areas that might experience heavier loads, or in areas with a lot of ground movement due to clay soils, it could be better to increase concrete thickness to 150mm.
No, Anceps are volumetric concrete suppliers. We provide London customers with specific volumes of concrete necessary to complete domestic projects such as foundations, driveways, garden paths, patios, etc.

A volumetric concrete mixer typically needs about 3-4 metres of width and 10-12 metres of length for safe operation and manoeuvring on-site. The vehicle needs enough overhead clearance (about 4 metres) to avoid things like trees or power lines. For tight spaces, please discuss with our team beforehand, as our experienced drivers can often work with more limited spaces when necessary.
